RE: [hobbit] Hobbit Generating Defunct Processes

I solved my problem by calling IBM and they had me download and install
the latest fixpack for AIX 5.3 T/L 7... this brought me up to Service Pack
7 (5300-07-07-0846). I rebooted the server after applying the updates and
the defunct processes are no longer generated. Hope this helps.

Read this document and try to resolve what process is generating the
defunct/zombie processes.

I run Hobbit/Xymon server and clients on AIX 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 6.1 and do
not have such a problem.

Chris

Hi all,

I have exactly the same issue on our IBM machines with AIX 5.3 (oslevel
-r: 5300-08).

I'm using Stef's hobbit/xymon client downloaded from
http://www.docum.org/foswiki/bin/view/Xymon/Aix5HobbitClient .
Does anyone find proper patch we have to apply?

Regards.

I have Hobbit running on a IBM P6 lpar, with AIX 5.3 installed. It seems
about every 3-4 minutes a 'defunct' process is started by hobbit. I have
tried uninstalling and re-installing Hobbit, and rebooting the server. The
defunct processes are still being generated. Does anyone have any idea on
what is causing this? Thanks for your help.
Here's a sample of the ps output:
