Read this document and try to resolve what process is generating the defunct/zombie processes.

I run Hobbit/Xymon server and clients on AIX 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 6.1 and do not have such a problem.
Regards,
Chris

Hi all,
I have exactly the same issue on our IBM machines with AIX 5.3 (oslevel -r: 5300-08).
I'm using Stef's hobbit/xymon client downloaded from http://www.docum.org/foswiki/bin/view/Xymon/Aix5HobbitClient .
Does anyone find proper patch we have to apply?
Regards.

I have Hobbit running on a IBM P6 lpar, with AIX 5.3 installed. It seems about every 3-4 minutes a 'defunct' process is started by hobbit. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Hobbit, and rebooting the server. The defunct processes are still being generated. Does anyone have any idea on what is causing this? Thanks for your help.
Here's a sample of the ps output:
