[Xymon] Devmon RRD graphs not being generated

I have a problem with Devmon and RRD graphs in Xymon 4.3 (upgraded from the 4.2 all-in-one-patch).
(-note-: the graphs were not being generated in the hobbit 4.2 version either)
 
I have a template with a "temp" test for an environment monitor.
 
Devmon is probing the monitor, collecting the data and sending it to Xymon. no errors in devmon.log
 
xymon can display the data and alert on the thresholds but no RRD files are generated in the data/rrd/"HOSTNAME" folder for the temp test (only conn) and I cannot find any erros in any logfiles.
 
 
 
How can I see where the process is stopping or going wrong?
 
I have copied the contents of devmon-graph.cfg into graphs.cfg in xymon and make sure that temp=devmon is in the TEST2RRD line and temp is mentioned in GRAPHS line.
