Your alert configuration can include/exclude hosts and tests.
Since you're getting e-mails, there must be some sort of alert
config already setup in hobbit-alerts.cfg - just change that to
exclude the "msgs" service. E.g.

HOST=*
	MAIL stewart at somewhere.com EXSERVICE=msgs
