first of all, thank you all :)
i did it this way...
root at Monitor:/usr/local/bin# cat smsalert.sh

# replacing space with +
TRIMMED=$(echo $BBALPHAMSG | sed 's/ /+/g')
# replacing &red with RED+IP:
TRIMMED2=$(echo $TRIMMED | sed 's/&red/RED+IP:/g')
/usr/local/bin/sendsms.sh $RCPT $TRIMMED2

and the sms comes with this content:
