Your new server has the configuration of your first server, so it has the original servers name and IP address as where to send.
XYMONSERVERHOSTNAME and XYMONSERVERIP in your xymonserver.cfg file.

hello all,
this was it.. few days ago, i started another xymon server, on another host, using the same config, with minor changes..
it was also checking my vpn hosts from the internet..
when i stopped this second server, everything started to work ok, on the first one, no red/flapping, etc..
can someone explain this ?

Are you running the ping test from multiple xymon servers?
I do that, my main server is on one network, and I have 2 hybrid proxy/backup servers on the more protected network.
Where is the NAT going on for this machine?
Could it be a DNS issue? Have you tried “testip” in hosts.cfg?

hello,
nothing changed.. ping tests are showing red/flapping, these are the only tests i run..
all hosts with real ips are green.
the strange is that i run a ping test for hours, and says 0% packet loss, but xymon keeps the host in ref/flapping condition..

This could be a number of things. The obvious question is what has changed (that you can see)? Any new routers, changes to the VPN setup? What tests are showing red/flapping? Are all tests for these affected hosts red/flapping? You say it is only those systems with a private network, do you have others that aren't a private network through the same VPN that are OK? What is happening at the VPN gateways at each end, can you run tcpdump on these systems to find any patterns? If tests are flapping, that means some packets are getting through, you should be able to see this on the gateways.
hope this helps, Phil

Subject: [Xymon] flapping status
hello all,
the last 4-5 days, i have a major problem with my xymon server.
I run it for several years, monitoring connectivity on misc servers on my local network.
Xymon server is connected to my local network via a VPN, and it seems that the problem is with the computers that have a private ip (10.xx.xx.xx).
when i restart xymon, everything seems ok for a few minutes.
after this, all become red and i have a "flapping status" warning.
i tried to change values in tasks.cfg with no result.
i unistalled/installed xymon, with no result.
my configuration is very close to the default, except hosts.cfg of course.
i tried to ping for hours a host on my localnet, from xymon server, successfully, with no packet lost..
can anyone help me with this ?
