This shows that the client process failed about 5 seconds after it was
started. So maybe a connectivity problem?
Check your XYMSRV or XYMONSERVER setting, and also check that the client
can connect to it on port 1984.
Maybe manually send a client message:
$ xymoncmd
$ $XYMON XYMSRV "client dummy test"
$ echo $?
$ exit
And see what you get.
