You probably want the SERVER to listen to port 1985 too...
[bb at iris etc]$ pwd
/usr/local/xymon/server/etc
[bb at iris etc]$ grep 198 hobbitserver.cfg
BBPORT="1985"                   # Portnumber where hobbitd/bbd listens
