In a previous company I regularly sent an email to echo at tu-berlin.de -
they have kindly set up a service that will reply to you, so you can set
up a script that sends an email out, waits an amount of time (I used ten
minutes) and checks the in-box of the sending address.

Subject: [hobbit] mail Test
Hi All,
Does anybody know a way to test your ability to send mail
externally? I want to be able to verify we can send mail to an external
email server. Being able to check mail externally would be great also.
Does anybody know of a test or script to do this?
thanks
k
