Adding vmstat1 to trends page?

The following post asked the question of how to add vmstat1, vmstat3, 
etc to the trends page:

I cannot find a response to this.  Does one have to add TRENDS 
definitions to all hosts, or is there a way to specify these globally?  
I've tried adding "vmstat:vmstat1,vmstat3" or "vmstat1,vmstat3" to the 
GRAPHS variable, to no avail.
