[hobbit] make: Fatal error in reader: build/Makefile.rules, line 14: Unexpected end of line seen

I am using gmake, just I compiled from source.

Are you using gnu make (should be under /usr/sfw/bin/gmake is using
solaris 10) or Sun's make (/usr/ccs/bin/make)?  you need to be using gnu
make.

Hi 
 
I am trying to configure hobbit client on Solaris, ./configure.client
runs fine but when I am trying to run make I am getting following error.
 
bash-2.03# make
make: Fatal error in reader: build/Makefile.rules, line 14: Unexpected
end of line seen
 
Could you please help me
