A little further ... Removing the trailing slash in 'Alias /hobbit 
"/home/hobbit/server/www/" ' the first level of subpages are shown 
correct.
But access to the cgi scripts returns still a 404. Removing the trailing
slash from the script aliases makes no difference. Callled URL is:
http://my.new.host/hobbit/AIuniXen/hobbit-cgi/bb-hostsvc.sh?HOST=lscopy02.kreis-steinfurt.lokal&SERVICE=conn
