The hobbit client is actually developed by Emanuel Dreyfus; I haven't
been involved in it (and actually haven't had the time to look at it
in much detail).

I know Emanuel has focused solely on a NetBSD client, so unless you
are compiling on that platform you probably will run into problems.

The client as it is now is very different from the BB client, as you
have noticed. Whether that is a good idea or not remains to be seen;
there are certainly benefits in having the client be a compiled
program that talks directly to the OS level without having to handle
specific text output that differs from one OS to another - or even
from one version of the OS to another.

I still think it is essential that there is some sort of extension
mechanism like the BB client has. There are simply a lot of things out
there that you guys want to monitor, and a fixed un-customizable
client just won't cut it. So that is one thing that needs to be added
to the current hobbitclient.

Henrik
