You would be much better off to create a "real" historical syslog
solution, which could even be co-resident with your Xymon server.
Look
at syslog-NG or rsyslog, and link to MySQL or even flat files.
You may want to look at Splunk - http://www.splunk.com/ also -- just
be sure to have a fairly powerful system on hand.
