- Thread-topic: Hobbit 4.2.0 client and memory checks
Hi all,
An issue has arisen over the Christmas period that is causing me some
confusion. I have a Sun server running sparc Solaris 10 which has the
4.2.0 Hobbit client installed on it, this client sends its data to my
4.2.2 Xymon server. The client machine has 64GB of memory and 16GB of
swap space.
The issue I have at the moment is that Xymon's web pages show the server
as having 64GB (or so) of swap and the swap is 91% full, yet a swift
look on the server itself shows it to have on 16GB of swap and none of
which is in use.
I have also confirmed that the machine this data is coming from is the
same as the one I think it is and that I am not logging on to a
different server!
The relevant portions of the client data are as follows:
[df]
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/odm 0 0 0 0% /dev/odm
swap 5123480 1328 5122152 1% /etc/svc/volatile

So as you can see from the [top] section above the server has only 16GB
of swap configured, yet the memory web page for this server has:
Tue Jan 6 12:40:20 GMT 2009 - Memory CRITICAL
Memory Used Total Percentage
green Physical 49541M 65536M 75%
red Swap 57495M 62474M 92%
I guess I am having a problem understanding how Xymon interprets memory.
I am fairly sure I have looked at this in the past but I still don't
understand it 8-(
