I just want to monitor sql2000 and sql2005 databases for sizes , jobs
etc. will this script help ?

You may want to be more specific on the database in question.
We use dbcheck from http://sourceforge.net/projects/hobbit-perl-cl/ to
monitor
Oracle and MySQL.
