Yes, it is usually caught by the spammer sending from an address that isn't subscribed to the list. But this time he was using a valid subscriber address to send the spam, so it got through. Might I make a suggestion of configuring users so they're 'moderated' for their first few posts?
I doubt a spammer would bother to 'participate' in a group before spamming, so likely that will weed out the spammers. :)
