Can you do the following on the Hobbit server?
# hostname
# cat /etc/hosts
# ifconfig <primary interface>
# ps auxw | grep hobbit
Also, you should have the following in the hobbitlaunch.cfg file:
[hobbitclient]
ENVFILE /var/hobbit/client/etc/hobbitclient.cfg
NEEDS hobbitd
CMD /var/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient.sh
LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/hobbitclient.log
INTERVAL 5m
