RE: Hobbits are good sneaks - update

Hi

We have been doing a bit of research, and found that
If you install the Hobbit RPM, and do not run Hobbit, the NVIDIA driver
will install OK.
However, if you have run Hobbit at any point, the NVIDIA driver install
fails, even if you shut hobbit down.

We then tried a new machine, installed hobbit, and ran hobbit.
We then disabled hobbit, so it would not run, and rebooted the machine.
The NVIDIA install failed again, as below.
(Log attached)

Subject: Hobbits are good sneaks

Hi all

OK, this is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

We are running Red Hat EL3
A few weeks back, we compiled hobbit into a rpm, and installed the
client on this machine.

Now we are trying to update the video driver, and we get this.

# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-169.04-pkg2.run -ans
Verifying archive integrity... OK
Uncompressing NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86_64

WARNING: Unable to perform the runtime configuration check for library
'libcuda.so.1' ('/usr/lib64/libcuda.so.169.04'); assuming successful
installation.

If we remove the hobbit RPM and rename the /usr/lib/hobbit directory to
something else, it works.

Has anybody seen anything like this before?

    Vernon
