Hi,

you should run the script as hobbit user after setting  variable 
QUERY_STRING to the options, ie
export 
QUERY_STRING=HOST=blackadder&SERVICE=ssh&TIMEBUF=Thu_Mar_15_10:09:43_2007
cd ~/hobbit.

hope this'll help.
