I fixed this by changing config file hobbitserver.cfg and changing MACHINEDOTS 
to hobbit-server.  I also added a hobbit-server entry in the bb-hosts file.  
So the hobbit server checks are on the line hobbit-server and the os checks 
from the client are on the line hobbit.
