Plotting charts of custom values

Hi All,
 
I'm using BB to track various features of my server application, on of
which is message throughput.  I can periodically compose a message that
contains a string stating how many messages have been processed in, say,
one minute.  However this only appears as text on the web page.
 
Ideally I'd like to have a plot of throughput in the same way that BB
plots memory/CPU usage, etc.
 

 
How can I do this for my own services?  It appears to be a configuration
setting on the server.
