Geoffrey,
You may want to look at the definitions for apache. The ones that come with
the .rpm and probably the .deb only cater for /hobbit/ and not /hobbit. So
what may have happened in your case is in one browser you put the trailing
slash (or the browser did for you) and in the other you didn't. Any just
something to look at, it threw me a couple of times
