I would recommend to put this at the beginning of your script

[ -f /export/home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg ] || exit 99
. /export/home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg

And get rid of this

if [ -d "$BBHOME" ]
then
        . $BBHOME/etc/bbdef.sh

And the corresponding "else" and "fi"
