Yes.
Hobbit currently relies on the Big Brother client for doing the
client-side tests, and the standard Big Brother client will happily
report data into Hobbit. So your custom extensions for the client
should work, no problem.
It's slightly different if you've written extensions that run on the
BBDISPLAY server, especially if they access the Big Brother logfiles
directly. BBMAP does this, and needs to be modified to work with
Hobbit, and possibly other extensions as well.

I'm monitoring about 2000 machines currently, with my production box
running Big Brother + bbgen, and the test server running Hobbit.
The load on the Hobbit box is about 1/4 of the load on the BB box.
