RE: [hobbit] Hosts have disappeared

I've gotten this sorted out. The rebuilding thing was a mistake. It has to
do with how my company is caching external traffic. It worked fine from
home.

The purple tests were occurring because somehow, hobbitd had multiple
instances of the same test. I noticed this when I went into the
enable/disable page - bbd, conn, smtp, http, and ssh were all listed twice.
I ran the ~/server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "drop hostname test" command twice for
each of the offending tests and everything is green again. Once might have
been sufficient, but I didn't think of that until after.

I've restarted it again, and my hosts are back, but things still aren't
right. Certain checks are still showing purple on the main page and green
when you drill down. I have my bbdisplay set to rebuild every 20 seconds,
but it is rebuilding approximately every 5 or 6 minutes.

Thanks,

Gordon

Henrik,

I already killed everything to do with hobbit once, to see if it would bring
stuff back. It didn't. I don't know if that lost the data you're looking
for.

I did a dump. You can get it here:

I dont think so. This happens if the Hobbit daemon stops answering
requests - then bbgen thinks nothing has been logged at all, and
displays an empty page.

I haven't been able to trigger it myself, but maybe some playing
around with renaming hosts will do it.

If it happens again, I would be very interested to get a core-dump of
the hobbitd process. So could you please try killing hobbitd with a
"kill -ABRT <hobbitd-PID>" ? That should cause it to core-dump.

Henrik
