That makes a lot of sense indeed,
Checking xymonserver.cfg however seems to be correct:
XYMONSERVERHOSTNAME="my.xymon.url"
XYMONSERVERIP="**.***.226.227"
XYMONSERVEROS="linux"
XYMSRV="$XYMONSERVERIP"
I don't actually see XYMSERVERS in the xymonserver.cfg though
