[Xymon] umlauts in xymon

As the title says:

If I enter a "ä" into the following directive

"group-only apps|... |ikol|laemmkomm| ..."

instead of the "ae" the column is ignored when xymon displays the page. 
"file" on linux characterizes the file as UTF-8, firefox page 
information shows the same char set. Coding the "ä" as a html entity 
makes no difference.
