[Xymon] Remote Xymon server

Sorry, xml should be html. I actually use this for appfeed.sh

This also assumes that your do this on a machine that is also a xymon server, and can read the local style sheets and images, etc.

#!/bin/ksh
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/sfw/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

echo "Content-type: text/xml"
echo ""
curl -s http://remoteserver/xymon/nongreen.html

adjust LD_LIBRARY_PATH as needed.

Unfortunately, while this does give me something to work with it's not exactly what I'd like.

Does anyone know of a way of showing the "All Non-green" page from a remote server on a local server?

I appreciate that I could get this display by specifying summary entries for each host/test combination but that would be extremely time consuming and a maintenance headache.

Perhaps I could create a snapnongreen_footer template that included an iframe that would show the remote server all non green page.

Anyone any other ideas on how to do this?

Thanks,
Neil Simmonds

You might want to look at the summary line hosts.cfg.

summary MyOtherServer.All 10.20.30.40 http://myotherserver.mycompany.com

I have a sort of similar question - we have xymon running in two data centers and I am trying to figure out if I can have each instance monitor the other instance - i.e. have a link from one site to the other site on each site. So that we would only have one web page to monitor and if we see the link to the second site go red then we would click on it and that would take us to the website for the second site.

Thanks,

Elizabeth J

Hi all,

We are looking at adding Xymon monitoring at another of our sites soon. Ideally we'll just configure the agents to point at our Xymon server however I'm wondering if we might be better setting up a remote server. My main concern is the volume of traffic but considering that we will be looking at running the agents in Central mode I'm wondering what the difference will be in the amount of data being sent.

Will a remote server reduce the amount of traffic, given that we still want to be able to see the data on our main server.
