[Xymon] Unable to start client

Sorry still trying to get my bearings here

i got the client from 
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/xymon/Xymon/4.3.10/xymon-4.3.10.tar.gz 


I did a standard install but was advised to install as root and not 
xymon so everything is run under root.

2.6.35-22-server #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 22:02:33 UTC 2010 x86_64 
GNU/Linux
Ubuntu 10.10
