I just saw that the rest of the conversion was not send to the list.

I said that it's best to put the server on a linux box so you only need to 
compile the client for AIX.

I also have some precompiled clients for AIX on 
http://www.docum.org/drupal/category/docs/hobbit
These clients also work on newer AIX versions. AIX 5 and higher are binary 
compatible.
