Hey try this...

In the hobbitclient.cfg.......

Make sure that bbdisp is the same ip address as the xymon server....

Since ours here is in dns we dont have an ip address i just have it plainly
xymon......but if your not running dns you need the correct IP in there...

Let me know

Hi again,
I got ready AIX bffs from colleague who has compiled them probably. I use
AIX 5.3.3..
i have started installed software from:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.hobbit
as it was adviced in smit.log this starts
su - hobbit -c "/opt/hobbit/client/runclient.sh start"

list of runnig hobbit processes:

  hobbit 274600 364694 0 15:34:58 - 0:00 vmstat 300 2
  hobbit 303296 1 0 15:29:54 - 0:00 sh -c vmstat 300 2
1>/opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7.196680 2>&1;
mv /opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7.196680 /opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7

  hobbit 315398 303296 0 15:29:54 - 0:00 vmstat 300 2
    root 327872 295026 2 15:37:49 pts/0 0:00 grep hobbit
  hobbit 356368 1 0 Jun 30 -
0:00 /opt/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitlaunch
--config=/opt/hobbit/client/etc/clientlaunch.cfg
--log=/opt/hobbit/client/logs/clientlaunch.log
--pidfile=/opt/hobbit/client/logs/clientlaunch.suelb10018-7.pid
  hobbit 364694 1 0 15:34:57 - 0:00 sh -c vmstat 300 2
1>/opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7.250064 2>&1;
mv /opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7.250064 /opt/hobbit/client/tmp/hobbit_vmstat.suelb10018-7

in logfiles it looks like hobbitd_client is not found in installation:

/opt/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitclient.sh
[67]: /opt/hobbit/client/bin/hobbitd_client: not found

clientlaunch.log shows that the tasklist has been loaded succesfully:
#:/opt/hobbit/client/logs>>more clientlaunch.log
2009-06-30 13:50:28 hobbitlaunch starting
2009-06-30 13:50:28 Loading tasklist configuration
from /opt/hobbit/client/etc/clientlaunch.cfg

I have checked also port 1984 is available on server.

maybe I did not compile correctly? what is the equivalent of the
hobbitd_client?

Merek,

a couple things to check at least,

Did you use the runclient.sh to start the client?

and what version of AIX do you have?

Also check to see in the logs if information is being passed from the
client to ur server

 Subject: [hobbit] prerequisites AIX

Hi,
I am quite new in the subject here.
Could you advice how could i find prerequisites for installing and
functioning client on AIX.
I am struggling now that even Hobbit processes are running on client ,
there are only basic info for monitored servers , looks like the client is
not doing any jobs.
Maybe quick checklist?

we got following view:

(Embedded image moved to file: pic14771.gif)

the mmtest is switched off. SUELB10018-7 have the client running. I need to
define more services, by default there are much more defined already and
running for windows clients.
