[hobbit] Unable to get Hobbit 4.2 to send e-mails

You could start with su'ing to the hobbit user, then trying:

$ mail [your email address]
Subject: Test
[blank line]
ctrl-D
$

That should lead to you getting an email from your hobbit user. If you 
don't, then your "mail" command is not configured correctly for your 
hobbit user.
