Hi Bill,
Maybe this can help you.
At the Known issues in Hobbit, navigate to the "Hobbit on Solaris compiles
but aborts with some "ld.so" error" section.

I'm happy to send you over my succesfull compiled client if you'd like.
Had some help from the list to get it working. it's the least I could do to
return the help.
