Did you try to apply the patch from
http://www.hswn.dk/hobbiton/2009/07/msg00274.html ?

If the patch won't apply then you could add the "opacity:0.5;"
manually to those two lines in web/hobbitgraph.c, they're easily
found. hobbitgraph.c has very few changes from 4.2.0
