[hobbit] alerts won't stop

I understand your frustration but I only see one reference to the drop command..and a follow up with "I don't think that's it.". I've actually had to do the drop multiple times in the past...once for the hostname and once for the fully qualified hostname...just to be sure.
If nothing else, from the top of your hobbit structure (I'm assuming it's all under one branch and not spread out all over the file system) run a find on the host name you're having problems with; such as 'find . -name \*hostname\*'...note, don't use the fqdn for this but just the host name. That will at least let you know if the data is still around.

If you would read the initial messages in the thread, you will see that I have done that, several times, both for the box as a whole and for the specific test (conn) that is causing the problem. I have RTFM.
I did find an entry for the box in the hobbitd.chk file, I stopped hobbit, removed the line that referenced said box and restarted hobbit, we will see if this cures the problem. It is not a method that I would recommend, however.

under the server install, I believe you want to just do: ./bin/bb localhost "drop hostname" after making sure that it's no longer in bb-hosts.

If you have the admin scripts you can use the clean script. If you don't have the script then you need to use the hobbit del host command...I'm lazy and using the GUI so I can't help you here =(
The problem is that it is still purple, therefor it alerts you. You need to get rid of the purple messages.

I'm still having trouble with Hobbit sending out "purple" alert messages for a machine that was disabled weeks ago. I've removed all mention of the box from the Hobbit configuration files and have even restarted Hobbit, although I dislike doing so. Does anybody have any ideas on how to stop this? It's beginning to annoy people.

Can't really say, the false alerts only come out one a day (had repeat set to 1 day in hobbit-alerts).

Oh. Well, make sure you have removed those servers from server/etc/bb-hosts and try running bb localhost "drop <servername>" on your Hobbit server again (as the previous poster recommended).

Don't think that is it, the test that is getting reported as purple is "conn".

I have removed some machines from hobbit, taken all mention of them from the configuration files and issued the "drop" command using bb. I am still getting notified of their "purple" status every day, and it has been several weeks since I removed them from Hobbit. How can I stop these alerts from being generated?
Thanks,
Larry Barber
