he means that the client part of the software is not running on the
server.
For the server to monitor itself, it needs the client software running
on it as well.

Actually all the purple statuses are from the Server.
I am in the process of setting up a client.
I have Hobbit version 4.2.0 installed.

Which Hobbit release did you install? It appears that the
client is not running.
Go to the client directory and issue:
./runclient.sh start
