Once you've those development libraries installed you'll need to...
su hobbituser #not literally, make one!
wget http://internap.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/hobbitmon/hobbit-4.2.0.tar.gz
#note that you may want to look here for an update:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/hobbitmon/hobbit-4.2.0.tar.gz?modtime=1155195064&big_mirror=0
tar -xzf hobbit*tar.gz
cd hobbit*
./configure.server && make
su - #making you root...
cd ~hobbituser/hobbit*
make install
