[hobbit] hobbitd stops running after 5 minutes

What OS are you running on?  Do you have lsof installed?

If so, does 'lsof -i | grep 1984' show anything?

If not, does 'netstat -an | grep LISTEN | grep 1984' show anything?  Looks
like it should, although we'll probably need OS specifics to help further
if you don't have lsof.
