You've got the idea ;-) First save the patch file to /tmp, then...
cd hobbit-4.0.2
patch -p0 </tmp/maintenance-feature.patch
make
stop Hobbit
make install (as root)
start Hobbit
I'm not sure what system you are running hobbit on, but if you get any
errors with patch try gpatch instead (I have to do this on my Solaris 9 x86
box).
