Personally I use AT&T's email system (by emailing <a href="mailto:1231231234@txt.att.com">1231231234@txt.att.com</a>) and it works perfectly well for me.  I don't get to use it too often as the only time I would receive an SMS message is in case something is red for <15m which doesn't happen often enough for me to really suggest its reliability.
