Directory size =0

Is there a way to get hobbit/xymon to understand that a directory size 
of 0 is a valid response?

We have a number of data ingest directories on a xfs fs that should be 0 
most of the time.

on ext3, du on an empty directory gives 4.
on xfs, du on an empty directory gives 0
