Most likely, your script returned bogus data to Hobbit. Could you try
dumping the data into a file ? I.e. instead of

   echo "myfile.rrd"
   echo "DS:....."

you would do

   echo "myfile.rrd" >>/tmp/logfile
   echo "DS:..." >>/tmp/logfile

   # Send the data we stored to Hobbit
   cat /tmp/logfile
