I got the impression he was killing the client side, not the server,
since he mentions:
"hobbit server would need to interogate the client periodically beyond ping"
in which case the server would definitely notice that the client
hadn't reported in over 30 mins.
I see what you're saying about hobbitlaunch on the server, though. If
*that's* down, all bets are off.
